Peter Bezanson, Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Peter Bezanson is the Chief Executive Officer and, with his wife Patti, the Co-Chairman for BASIS Educational Ventures. BASIS Educational Ventures is the parent company for BASIS.ed (which manages all the BASIS Charter Schools in Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, and Washington D.C.) and various other education-focused companies. Dr. Bezanson has been in the CEO position for BASIS educational entities since 2014, and assumed the Co-Chairman position in 2023. He has worked within the charter school industry since 1998, for his entire professional career. Dr. Bezanson’s initial professional academic experience was in middle and high school classrooms, volleyball courts and soccer fields, where he taught numerous classes — including courses in calculus, physics, and philosophy – and was a highly decorated women’s soccer and volleyball coach. Dr. Bezanson received his BA from St. John’s College, and his MA and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Iowa.
Patti Bezanson, Co-Chairman & BASISed Texas Chief Executive Officer
Patti Bezanson is responsible for the oversight of key school services provided to the BASIS Texas Charter Schools. Prior to that, Patti served as Chief Executive Officer for BASIS Overseas Educational Services (BOES) and managed the successful openings of 5 BASIS International Schools in China. Patti began her BASIS career as Managing Director of Marketing, Branding, and Student Recruitment for BASIS.ed. Before joining BASIS, Patti was responsible for building and leading all enrollment and marketing efforts for Great Hearts Academies, a major competitor in the K-12 charter school market. Patti received her BA in Communication from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

Aaron Kindel, Chief Growth and Business Officer
Working in the education reform and charter school space for over 20 years, Mr. Kindel has demonstrated a commitment to systemic K-12 improvement through the expansion of school choice and growth of high-quality charter schools. Through the successful scaling of charter school networks, he has played a role in creating tens of thousands of quality charter seats for communities across nine states and the District of Columbia.
Before joining BASIS.ed he served as President of Great Hearts Texas, a non-profit provider of public K-12 liberal arts charter schools. In that role he oversaw the academic, financial and day-to-day operations of a network that serving over 5,000 students across 8 schools in Texas. Mr. Kindel also oversaw the execution of the Great Hearts Texas growth plan to expand their impact and reach over 14,000 students.
Mr. Kindel initially joined Great Hearts Academies 2014 as Vice President for National Expansion and has played several key roles in the early growth and success of Great Hearts Texas. This work includes, but is not limited to, working across functional teams, both strategically and tactically, to lead and support the operational, regulatory, advocacy, real estate, finance, stakeholder relations, executive coaching and start-up efforts. He also served as Vice President of Operations in an interim capacity for several months.
Before joining the Great Hearts team in 2013, Mr. Kindel had a long and distinguished career at Imagine Schools where he served as the Director of Business and New School Development. During his tenure at Imagine Schools, Mr. Kindel led strategic growth in the southwest region and scaled their network from five schools in one state to twenty schools in four states. Previously, he helped to increase community reach and impact is his role as the Director of Community Relations and Marketing for Chancellor Beacon Academies in Miami, Florida. Before that, he served as the inaugural director of a supplemental education provider dedicated to helping underperforming students achieve full potential. As a Teach for America Corps member, Mr. Kindel taught seventh and eighth grade math for the Compton Unified School District near Los Angeles. He received his BA in Mathematics from Rollins College in Florida.

Purvi Gordon, Sr. Vice President of Talent and School Management
Purvi Gordon has recently joined the BASIS Schools network. Prior to coming to BASIS, Purvi has served in numerous roles at IDEA Public Schools and was formerly a special education & math teacher at Great Hearts Academies in Arizona. In her tenure at IDEA, she founded a campus as an Assistant Principal of Operations, served as a coach to all Assistant Principals of Operations as a Director of Leader Development, and mostly recently challenged herself in staffing and HR. During her time, Purvi launched multiple initiatives to help foster sustainability and growth within IDEA Austin.
Purvi was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She attended the University of Arizona where she obtained a double degree in both elementary and special education. After years of teaching, she also pursued and obtained a master’s degree in educational psychology & counseling.
