Ms. Parker joined BASIS San Antonio Primary Medical Center in 2015 as an English teacher and NJHS sponsor before transitioning to BASIS San Antonio Shavano as Dean of Students for the Upper School Program, and later to Director of Upper School Program. She looks forward to leading the campus as the Interim Head of School.
Ms. Parker earned a BS in English Education from Boston University, and holds teaching certifications in Texas and Massachusetts. She has experience teaching, mentoring, and tutoring in grades 5–12 throughout the greater Boston area, London, and Texas.
Lorene Rangel joined BASIS Shavano in 2017 as Auxiliary Programs Assistant and later Auxiliary Programs Coordinator. A San Antonio native, Lorene graduated cum laude from St. Mary’s University with a BS in Accounting, and she is a Texas CPA.
Lorene began her career at the international accounting firm of Arthur Andersen in the San Antonio office and later worked for Dell, Inc. in Austin. She has also served as the corporate controller of a high-tech startup.
Lorene took a temporary “retirement” from her career spending six years in Brazil, learning Portuguese and traveling extensively throughout South America.
Lorene is excited to serve as the Head of Operations for BASIS Shavano and work with the families of our wonderful school, and she is committed to bringing the same level of excellence to the HOPS role as our students bring to their academic endeavors.
Mr. Leach previously served at BASIS San Antonio Primary North Central as an orchestra director and grade 5 choir teacher, and at BASIS San Antonio Shavano as Dean of Students for the Lower School Program. He moved from Houston to San Antonio, where he earned a BM in Music Education and an MA in Teaching from Trinity University. Mr. Leach is also the assistant coach of the middle school basketball teams and high school baseball team.
Stephanie Cavin joined BASIS Charter Schools in 2015 as a teacher in the middle and upper schools. She left the classroom and began working with younger students in 2019 when she became the Dean of Students at BASIS San Antonio Primary – Medical Center. She joined BASIS San Antonio Northeast as the Director of Student Affairs for their inaugural school year in 2020. She is now back to working with the older students as the Director of Upper School Programs at BASIS San Antonio Shavano.
Stephanie completed her Master of Arts degree at The University of Texas–Pan American in south Texas.
