Mr. Hubalik is currently the Vice President of Academic Operations at BASIS.ed Texas, with thirteen years of experience at BASIS Charter Schools. Mr. Hubalik’s career with us began in 2009 as a middle school and high school teacher at our second-ever campus, BASIS Scottsdale. He has served in a variety of school-level leadership positions — including School Director, Head of Operations, and Head of School — in both Arizona and Texas.
After leaving the school ranks, Mr. Hubalik served as Vice President of all BASIS Charter Schools, and he is currently Vice President of Academic Operations for BASIS.ed Texas, (a title he will continue to hold even as he is Head of School). He holds a BS in Biology and Biological Sciences from Arizona State University, and an MBA from Benedictine University.
Having worked for more than ten years in the space, Mr. Tyrrell has launched 24 schools in the San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas – Fort Worth areas, and regularly consults other school networks on how to replicate operational successes so educators can focus on student outcomes. He has recently joined the BASIS Charter Schools network, and is excited to serve as the Head of Operations at the BASIS San Antonio – Jack Lewis Jr. Campuses. Like Mr. Hubalik, in addition to being the HOPS at BASIS JLJ, Ken will work with BASIS.ed Texas as a central office leader as well.
Prior to joining our network, Mr. Tyrrell served as the Vice President of Operations at Great Hearts Texas, where he managed eight operational department heads and successfully opened five campuses. Before his time at Great Hearts, he served as the Regional Director of Operations at IDEA Public Schools in San Antonio, managing new school launch, facilities, childhood nutrition program, enrollment, attendance, health services, student information systems and beginning of year readiness.
