Jennifer Higgins most recently served as the Director of the Middle School Program at BASIS Scottsdale. Prior to that, she served as a grade 3 Math and Science Subject Expert Teacher and a grade 4 Science Subject Expert Teacher at BASIS Tucson Primary. In addition to teaching, Ms. Higgins also supported curriculum development and mentored other teachers as a grade 4–5 Subject Advisor.
Before coming to BASIS Charter Schools, Ms. Higgins owned and operated a strength and conditioning facility, designing strength programs for high school athletes. She also holds a BA in Anthropology and Geology from Bowdoin College and an MS in Geology, spending her early career as a consulting geologist for a geotechnical and environmental engineering firm in Boston.
Ms. Higgins is incredibly excited to work with all the teachers, students, and families at our Austin schools to support the transformation of young students into exceptionally accomplished thinkers.
Ersula Williams comes to BASIS Austin from BASIS San Antonio – Northeast where she helped open the school as their founding Head of Operations. Ersula first joined BASIS Charter Schools in January 2017 as a Registrar for BASIS San Antonio Primary—Medical Center Campus. Her “do what it takes” attitude and ability to manage multiple projects helped her grow and flourish as a Registrar. With over 15 years in education, she is adept at exploring how software technologies can improve business processes and overall efficiency, and values innovation, collaboration, and effectiveness. Ersula brings a wealth of knowledge to BASIS Austin and is eager to see what the future holds for the school.
Mrs. Yeung joined the BASIS network in 2017 after moving to Arizona from Northern Virginia. Prior to becoming Director of Primary Program for BASIS Austin Primary, Mrs. Yeung was the Dean of Students at BASIS Peoria Primary in Arizona. She earned her BA in English Literature and Secondary Education from Wheaton College. She then received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. Mrs. Yeung has worked with countless children and families in both the foster care and mental health settings as a Clinical Social Worker for many years. She is now thrilled to be able to combine her background in Education and Social Work to provide the academic rigor and social/emotional support that BASIS Charter Schools excel at. It is Mrs. Yeung’s joy to see students engaged in their learning and social environment around them.
